How to Use AI for Literature Discovery and Review In-Person / Online

This workshop explores how AI tools can support the discovery, exploration, and review of scholarly literature. Participants will learn practical techniques for using Consensus to identify key concepts, develop search strategies, summarize research areas, compare findings across studies, assess the degree of agreement within the literature, and identify potential gaps or opportunities for further investigation. The session emphasizes practical applications of AI during the early stages of the research process, including topic exploration, literature searching, synthesis, and gap analysis. Participants will also receive a brief introduction to tools such as ResearchRabbit and Litmaps, which can be used to expand from a single article to related papers, citation networks, and connected lines of research. The workshop will discuss the strengths and limitations of AI-assisted literature review and provide strategies for verifying AI-generated insights against the underlying scholarly literature.
